Yin Yoga Workshop
with Jamie Lee CYA-E-RYT 500
June 10 & 11th
8:00-11:00am & 12:30-3:30pm
Yoga Loft

Finding the Yin within the Yang.

This workshop is for anyone who wishes to deepen their asana and meditation practice, plus those wanting to learn some new skills and variations of asana.

Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the more dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga, like ashtanga, vinyasa and poweryoga; making its application suitable for all levels and ages of students.

Yin Yoga offers a practice that targets and stresses different tissues in the body, that may otherwise not get worked from doing yang styles of asana.

Meaning it focuses its stimulation on deeper tissues, connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body, versus just the muscular tissues (which we are calling the yang tissues). As a balanced approach to our current state of health in this age, Yin Yoga offers a profound healing modality for our usually jacked-up and weakened nervous system.

Space is limited, please register early...
Course Highlights:
  • Yin Asana (The Postures) ~ We will explore a core group of 24 asanas, plus variations for each. Exploring the differences & similarities between Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga other types of Yang Yoga.
  • To understand the effects of meditation on the organs and glands, we will cover human physiology and anatomy of asana with its specific effects on the nervous and organic systems.
  • Learn how to create and maintain a personal asana and meditation practice with hatha, restorative and therapeutic asana systems.
  • Many people find that a Yin Yoga practice has transformative effects on body and mind. The gentle but consistent stimulation to the connective tissues encourages long-term health and flexibility of the joints, recharges the energetic system of the body and naturally draws the mind inward into a relaxed, meditative state.
  • Yin Yoga is a highly beneficial therapeutic practice that is available to all students at all levels. The power in this form of yoga is that it profoundly affects both the physical and energetic aspects of the self. It is the logical balance to a yang style of practice (i.e.: vinyasa yoga), and it has the added bonus of contributing to the mindfulness necessary for a successful meditation practice. Additionally, yin yoga is pivotal in affecting the functional mobility associated with a balanced and healthy body.
